Dr Daniel Prince is the Associate Director for Business Partnerships and Enterprise for Security Lancaster, which is Lancaster University’s multidisciplinary research centre for security and protection science. He works closely with external organisations to develop collaborative research and educational activities in security and protection science. This includes helping define business strategy and growth plans for companies both large and small.
Daniel engages in a wide range of external activities including appearances at conferences and in TV and other media speaking on a range of security topics and acting as a book series editor for the publishers Routledge in the domain of security conflict and technology. He also serves on the Non-Executive Board of a quantum security technology startup Quantum Base spun out of Lancaster University and actively advises cybersecurity start-ups.
Daniel has a long history of working in technology and specifically cybersecurity. He established, run and taught on Lancaster University’s GCHQ accredited Masters Degree in Cybersecurity, teaching penetration testing, digital forensics and information security management, alongside supervising PhD students research a wide range of cybersecurity business and technology issues. Daniel completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Systems Engineering in 2000 and went on to complete his PhD in Programmable Ad Hoc Networks in 2004. During his PhD, he consulted with Cisco and Microsoft developing networking code for their operating systems.
